Department of Biotechnology was established as premier Department in 2007. We define biological engineering as an analogous sibling to the main, well-established engineering disciplines in being recognizably focused on creating new technologies for a spectrum of application fields based on an identifiable basic science foundation — all using the two “wings” of engineering:” ‘analysis’ and ‘synthesis.

With a goal of developing effective biology-based technologies for application across a broad spectrum of society’s needs, including prominently, but not exclusively, human and environmental health, Biological Engineering students learn within an exciting landscape of research opportunities.

Dr. Maya Datt Joshi

Dr. Maya Datt Joshi has a teaching and research experience of more than 10 years. Dr. Maya Datt Joshi has done his B.Sc. from Maharishi Dyanand Saraswati University, Ajmer in 1999. He did his Masters in Biotechnology from Kumaon University, Nainital in 2003. After attaining scholarship from CSIR, He joined the doctoral research in Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow during which He performed Biochemical and animal model based research on the target enzymes playing crucial role in Type 2 Diabetes mellitus. He was awarded Doctorate degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU),New Delhi in 2009. After completing his doctoral research, Dr. Maya Datt Joshi joined Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston(USA) during which He performed research on the role of Mucin1 oncoprotein in various cancers including prostate, Breast and lung carcinoma. He joined Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center(BIDMC)of Harvard Medical School in 2011 during which He performed research on the role of angiopoetin inhibitors in drug resistant renal carcinoma.

Dr. Maya Datt Joshi has more than 20 research publications in various scientific journals of International repute. He has also written some review articles on challenging health issues related to life style diseases including Cancer and Diabetes mellitus. Dr. Maya Datt Joshi is currently working as a Associate Professor in Department of Biotechnology, Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology (Deemed to be University), Meerut. He is presently engaged in teaching and research activities for the advancement of the academics in the area of Biotechnology and Microbiology.
