Biomedical Engineering and Sciences is one of the non-traditional and interdisciplinary course offered by Shobhit University to prepare leading Bioengineers and scientists for innovative contributions in the healthcare sector. Biomedical Engineering and sciences is a perfect amalgamation of engineering principles and biology therefore the understanding of biological system as an engineering or electrical model is necessary.

Bioelectricity played important role in order to develop different kind of diagnostic equipment, procedure and to understand the better anatomy, physiology, and pathology of biological tissue. Bioelectricity refers to electrical currents occurring within or produced by the human body. Many important biological processes such as neuronal activity, the synchronous beating of heart, muscle contraction and glandular systems are all tightly controlled by bioelectricity. A disruption in electrical currents can lead to illness. For example, in order for the heart to pump, cells must generate electrical currents that allow the heart muscle to contract at the right time. Therefore, in the domain of Biomedical Engineering & Sciences, understanding of bioelectrical phenomenon is needed. They can apply this knowledge in the development of diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative devices.
