Meerut is one of the most interesting, elegant and vibrant cities in the green belt of the northern part of India
and the combination of historic, cultural and social facilities is unique. A Commissionaire and District
Headquarter, Meerut is the educational hub of the state Uttar Pradesh. The city has a prominent place in the
annals of history and Indian Mythology since the times of Ramayana and Mahabharata. It was also witness to
the first armed revolution against the British.
According to a myth Maya, a distinguished architect, got from king Yudhishther the land on which the city of Meerut now stands and he called this place Mayrashtra, a name which in course of time became shortened to
Meerut.
The main University campus at Meerut is set on the Delhi-Meerut-Dehradun National Highway (NH-58). The University is unmistakably modern in both appearance and outlook. As a completely purpose built development, the campus is more compact than most, with all major facilities easily accessible from a central parade. Laboratories and lecture theaters are all grouped around this area and are interspersed with accommodation blocks, creating a strong sense of social and academic community.
The University buildings are contemporary, light and artistically designed and surrounded by natural scenic landscape. University is at the leading edge of mobile computing.
There's wireless availability across almost all of the campus and our wireless hotspots and wi-fi zones offer true wireless access to services and the internet. This is in addition to providing fixed wired computers for students to use in labs and other access areas.
The development of campus facilities is ongoing. The University has strategically enhanced its infrastructure and program modernization in a manner so as to provide an enabling environment to students, faculty and partners for accessing quality education, research, and technological innovations. It has also renovated, improved and given an overall facelift to the existing structures and facilities, infrastructural renewal to make them environment friendly, modern and with latest trends in ambience.
Auditoriums, Seminar Rooms and Academic
Auditoriums with ergonomically designed chairs, quality furnishings and other allied structures have been developed. Seminar room with LCD and teaching aids have been set up in each Department to ensure regular and better facilities for visitors, web casts and student participation in seminars and open source learning. New academic blocks with class rooms and lecture theaters have come up. To enhance seating capacity, new class rooms have been added and seating capacity of class rooms has been increased by redesigning and reshaping the existing arrangements.
